About Us:
We are FRC team #8533, the Rancho Reapers! We are a FIRST Robotics Competition team at Rancho Campana High School in Camarillo, California! Our team operates year round as an academic class, ASB club & FRC team. We were founded
in the 2020-2021 school year, and have 2 in-person FRC competitions under our belt.
We begin each school year as a class of students from grades 9-12, with an interest in robotics. After a period of training, our team allows students to choose specializations, and our teacher appoints student leadership. Specializations on offer include the machine design (CAD), machine shop, electrical, programming, public relations & logistics sub-teams. During competition season, we split up into these sub-teams to let students test their skills in areas that are suited to their interests. Our hardworking volunteer mentors & team alumni support the development of these skills with their wide range of real-life experience in these fields.
Every spring, we participate at an in-person, worldwide robotics competition, called the FIRST Robotics Competition. Each January, FIRST publishes a unique and complex game, that encourages student innovation in machine design, software
& strategy. Following the release of the game, we work flat-out to produce a 4ft+, 100lb+ robot that is ready for competition by early March. Not only does the FRC program allow us to test out our engineering skills on a global
stage, but it also provides us the chance to take part in a one-of-a-kind community based “co-operatition” & gracious professionalism, where competing teams share their work to help make each other stronger.
If you or your student are interested in the opportunities that robotics can provide, please reach our team via social media, or inquire with the Rancho Campana High School administration. We are an all-play team, and we are always
looking for rookie members!
